It was thought by officials to help women internationally be equal and safe. “The International Women's Rights Action Watch (IWRAW) was organized in 1985 at the Third World Conference on Women in Nairobi, Kenya, to promote recognition of women’s human rights under the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), an international human rights treaty” (Women Changed the World). The IWRAW was the first step after women’s rights in America were declared. Women internationally had rights but the head office was in Minnesota so it was still in the Untied States. The Untied States seem to be the ones that want equal rights and sets up organizations and helps everyone be equal.

I have done a blog like this so I see what you are saying. The US definitely gives out more rights then other countries do to women. Although not everything is as equal as we think it should be, it is still a lot better then having no rights given at all. In some countries women are forced not to work, to get married to someone they do not love and do not have the opportunities that the men do. The US is doing a lot in order to try to help out these women. I agree with your last line "The Untied States seem to be the ones that want equal rights and sets up organizations and helps everyone be equal."
ReplyDeleteWomen should be treated equally no matter where they live. Often in the United States women believe they are treated unequally to men and though this may be the case these women do not have it as bad as those in other countries around the world. Some places in the middle east allow women to barely have any rights at all, such as not being allowed to drive. Women should be treated equally and if that means the United States has to be the one to lead the movement then so be it.
